"Feather"
Today I was a feather
Corners
Intersections
I was stuck
The water unfroze
Two inches more
Centimeters, even
I tried to map out
Where I was going next
Imagining being stuck
Somewhere else
Might be more appealing
Closer to the street
Better perspective
Better company
Or if only I could change the weather
More water to move me
Faster water
Less water
No water
I smiled when I realized
The most inevitable outcome
Was that the water would dry
The weather would change
The wind would pick me up
And carry me
To a whole new set of circumstance
To a new obstacle
A new view
New company
New perspective
This would repeat
Indefinitely
So I loosened my grip
Gave up on planning
At least for the moment
Maybe flow a little
Maybe flow a lot
Let the sun kiss me
Let the wind catch me
Let the ground hold me
Let the water move me
Let the stillness
And the silence
And the noise
Touch me
Today I was a feather
I looked up and saw myself
I looked down
And saw myself
Stuck in the boundaries
Bricks surround me
Countless ways to turn
And saw myself
Stuck in the boundaries
Bricks surround me
Countless ways to turn
Corners
Intersections
I was stuck
The water unfroze
Two inches more

Imagining being stuck
Somewhere else
Might be more appealing
Closer to the street
Better perspective
Better company
Or if only I could change the weather
More water to move me
Faster water
Less water
No water
What if I got stepped on
What if I got picked up
What if I got picked up
I smiled when I realized
The most inevitable outcome
Was that the water would dry
The weather would change
The wind would pick me up
And carry me
To a whole new set of circumstance
